Arrive to Kigali, Rwanda

Welcome to Kigali, Rwanda’s capital city, located in the center of the country's beautiful rolling hills. Your private driver will transfer you to your hotel as you settle in for the first day of your adventure.

Day 2
Kigali, Rwanda

Today you’ll explore the city and learn more about Rwanda's history. You will be met with your private guide at the hotel and explore the city of Kigali, including a visit to the Genocide Museum. The museum is a stunning place of remembrance and learning dedicated to the victims. Today is sure to be moving and emotional.

Day 3
Akagera National Park

Enjoy a helicopter flight from Kigali directly to your new accommodations within Akagera National Park. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by the Magashi Camp team to settle into your tent perched on the shores of Lake Rwanyakazinga.

Day 4
Akagera National Park

Rise with the sun for a game drive. This area boasts elephants, Masai giraffes, and lions. There are between 15 and 20 leopards at Magashi, perhaps you’ll spot one. After lunch, consider birding, fishing, or a sunset cruise on the lake.

Day 5
Nyungwe National Park

After breakfast, and an early game drive, heli-transfer to the southwest side of the country for your next adventure in the Nyungwe National Park at the beautiful One&Only property.

Nyungwe National Park

Today you’ll embark on your first wildlife trek into the park with a guide to find chimpanzees. This area is home to chimpanzees and monkeys. Your guide will lead you into the jungle to safely spot these energetic and charismatic creatures.

Nyungwe National Park

Enjoy a visit to the local communities and their tea farms. After lunch enjoy an e-bike ride or opt for an afternoon at the spa.

Day 8
Volcanoes National Park

This morning after you check out of your hotel, you’ll be transferred to the airport for a helicopter flight to your final destination; Volcanoes National Park. Arrive to the warm and welcoming Singita property and settle into your new room. We recommend an evening bike ride through the property before dinner.

Day 9
Volcanoes National Park

You’ll be up before the sun to meet your guide and transfer into the park for your second wildlife trek of the trip with the Golden Monkeys. These highly endangered primates hop tree to tree overhead and show off their busy lifestyle in their natural habitat. This afternoon, visit the village of Gasura and meet local artisans and craftspeople.

Singita Kwitonda Lodge, Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda

The final, most anticipated trek of the trip, the gorillas. This is one of the most cherished adventures for travelers all over the world. As you trek through the forest, anticipation builds with each step, until finally, you catch sight of a family of gorillas, peacefully foraging amidst the foliage.

Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda

Your last full day in Rwanda will be spent relaxing and enjoying an easy hike, morning yoga, or perhaps a pottery class. Enjoy your last day reviewing all your incredible photos and videos of your treks.

Former poachers have become conservation champions through Kora Tubungabunga Ibidukikije Cooperative’s programme supported by One&Only Nyungwe House. It offers alternative income streams, from farming to maintaining hiking trails. Biodiverse Nyungwe National Park promises huge community benefits through employment and investment, but poaching and deforestation activities were once common. Today, these former poachers take an active role in protecting wildlife and the rainforest.
